Rules for using the EECS Servers

  • The EECS servers are multi-user machines. That means you share their resources with other users. Actions that adversely affect other users is considered misuse of the servers.

  • Long running jobs (more than 10 minutes) OR CPU intensive processes must be run with "nice -19'.

  • For processes (like MAGIC, HSPICE, VIRTUOSO, CADENCE) that use a lot of system resources (CPU, memory, I/O), please make sure you only run one copy at a time.

    Keep in mind that the consequences of not following these requests
    include having your processes reniced, stopped, or killed; or your
    account locked.
